WW2 and its aftermath… If I traced the origins of America’s Deep State to an era and a big change in thinking, I would definitely point to the discovery of nuclear power.

Nearly everything you know about the military-industrial complex today can be sourced to the time that the Germans were pioneering all sorts of weaponry to rule the Earth.

They had one goal: ABSOLUTE DOMINANCE.

When they lost, the Soviets and Americans largely disregarded any moral considerations of the war crimes of Nazi scientists and recruited them in earnest.

The race was on to reach nuclear dominance, and the secrecy of the era birthed America’s new religion: NATIONAL SECURITY.

Everything was done in the name of it, and the warning was sounded that a well-educated citizenry must guard against the uncontrollable powers it might possess if left unchecked.

President Eisenhower was the first that realized that these newly formed agencies enjoyed a degree of oversight separation, which bothered him gravely.

Everything you hear of in terms of military might, futuristic programs, and everything you don’t learn about comes from these agencies.

DARPA, for example, is credited with inventing the Internet, GPS, and the F-117 Stealth Bomber, among other incredible innovations.

It’s all as glamorous as it sounds; DARPA’s stated goal is to make sure America is never surprised militarily. If someone else is advancing any technology, be it morally wrong or plain evil, the U.S. must combat that by having its own system.

When the Soviets were developing nuclear capabilities, the Americans were doing the same, each trying to get the upper hand over the other.

Some of DARPA’s ideas of the future seem like they’re taken out of horror movies, but at the base of it, there’s the lingering doubt that if they don’t do it, other nations (Russia, China, etc.) will, and that will be the end of the United States.

Declassified documents reveal remarkable internal discussions and debates when dealing with weapons that could obliterate our planet.

When we talk about power and how much an institution has a say over our future, it’s hard to imagine anything as mighty as DARPA, but the Federal Reserve is its equivalent in the economic sphere.

When the FED acts, it impacts everyone.

At first, it has an immediate effect on markets, but it filters down to everything.

The FED’s only lack of power is on the demographic front. It has no say over the availability of working-age men and women, and the U.S. is dealing with a shortage of them.

So long as that persists, we will have inflation and low unemployment.

The FED will have to keep rates higher for longer than any average investor imagines.

If you ask me, rates will be north of 4% for most of this decade.

To counter this, the government MUST inflate the debt in nominal terms, and that’s the chief reason for the dollar bear market.

The FED is helpless in that regard – the bear market is here.
