Then came 2021, when Elon Musk served up a series of one pro-Dogecoin tweet after another. On February 4, he tweeted the word “Doge” along with an image of a rocket shooting for the moon. That same day, he called Dogecoin “the people’s crypto.”

After that, Elon Musk tweeted a representation of “Doge Barking at the Moon” on April 15. And, the to-the-moon metaphor continued with Musk tweeting on May 9, “SpaceX launching satellite Doge-1 to the moon next year – Mission paid for in Doge – 1st crypto in space – 1st meme in space To the mooooonnn!!”
