Iran Targets U.S. Dollar Next

A Big F**k You

American interventionism in the Middle East seems as natural as watering plants for us, but it looks like the reliance of the United States on Saudi oil and the rise of technology-driven China – a new contender for global dominance after a 30-yr free ride, where no one was sizable enough to question Washington’s policies – have created the narrative that U.S. foreign policy is completely shifting away from the Middle East and concentrating on the South China Sea.

Nothing could be more apparent about this reality than the three big F**k You’s that Biden is getting right now:

  1. Russia-sponsored Syria, a country whose dictator has gassed and bombed his own population, has been invited to the Arab League conference. This has confirmed that the other leaders accept that U.S. sanctions have totally failed to dethrone him.

Effectively, it’s like the Middle Eastern countries telling Washington that it rejects its approach towards Assad.

This is a clear sign that Mohammed Bin Salman is not placing his kingdom’s future or his destiny as ruler of Saudi Arabia in the hands of Washington.

It means he does not intend to transact only in USD anymore (and he hasn’t), which also means that he is taking matters into his own hands.

  1. He took it one step further, allowing China to broker the normalization treaty with arch-enemy, Iran.

This is a wink towards Biden and towards the military-industrial complex that China is welcomed in the Middle East.

This is yet another big moment in diplomacy, because the Chinese will want oil, in exchange for being an agent of peace.

The Middle East has entered a stage of geopolitics, not too different than the old switchboards:

There are so many types of cultures and historical feuds between tribes (now countries) in the Middle East that one can always refer to some age-old battle or reason to go to war. The deep problems aren’t solved, but each nation, for its own reasons, doesn’t want to ignite physical conflict and prefers to be a “frenemy” of the others.

Frenemy is a term used to explain how two enemies can be friends, if there’s a mutual benefit to a narrow common agenda. Case in point is how the Soviets and the Americans worked to crush the Germans, only to become nuclear enemies the following morning.

So, like a switchboard operator, you plug into one agenda, disconnect from another and make no lasting connections, but have a temporary relaxation of past tensions.

    1. And that is the third big F**K you to Washington. It says, in plain English, we don’t need you to prosper… we can come up with our own set of principles to self-govern the Middle East.

So, what I seriously think any American should realize is that austerity measures will have to be made on unfunded liabilities, now that debt has real costs.

    Welcome to the new age.

    Best Regards,
